White Lake Limited Partnership recently caught up with Stephen Shearer on June 19th, 2018 at Pic Mobert’s 1st annual Job Fair.
Stephen has been a resident of Pic Mobert First Nation for 11 years and is originally from Manitouwadge. He is currently the Mill Supervisor at White River Forestry Products in White River.
Stephen credits where he is now to the opportunity that was provided to him by White Lake Limited Partnership (WLLP). In 2014 Stephen started work as a labourer in the mill at White River through a labour agreement with WLLP.
That opportunity led to him getting hired on full-time by White River Forestry Products within three months. Stephen worked as a labourer along with many other front-line positions, learning how to operate different types of equipment in the mill for a year and half before he was offered a position as Lead Hand, which is considered an assistant to the supervisor position. After working as Lead Hand for another year and half, Stephen was offered the position of Mill Supervisor in December of 2017.
“People need to be given the opportunity and that’s what WLLP gave me!“ said Stephen when talking about how he got started with White River Forestry Products. We are proud of Stephen’s accomplishments and are happy to be a part of his journey. Way to be an inspiration to others Stephen!
“Don’t settle for what you have. Strive to do more!”
