White Lake Resources Corporation (WLRC) is inviting applications for upcoming vacancies on our Board of Directors.
WLRC is the general partner for the White Lake Limited Partnership (WLLP) and is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day management of the partnership. WLRC is governed by a board of directors who employs a staff team to run the business.
White Lake LP is the Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg’s principal business and delivers a wide range of business services mainly within the Traditional Homelands of the Netmizaagamig Nishnaabeg including Mobert. The major role of the directors is to manage the corporation. They do so ‘in the best interests of the shareholder and are expected to do so in good faith and use reasonable business judgment.
Under the Ontario Corporations Act, in order to be a director of a corporation, a person must be at least 18 years of age, of sound mind and not in a state of undischarged bankruptcy.
The WLRC board would benefit from members who also:
- Are a member of the Netmizaggamig Nishnaabeg (residing on or off-reserve);
- Be willing to participate as a member of a team of directors and contribute in a positive manner to the management and growth of WLLP, including maintaining confidentiality;
- Be prepared to represent WLRC and WLLP positively within the community and membership;
- Be willing to complete director training and thereafter comply with applicable laws, policies and procedures, including WLLP policies;
- Be available to attend regularly scheduled (typically monthly) meetings, including in person in Mobert, occasionally Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, and on-line via Teams – meetings are typically held in afternoons or early evenings during weekdays, although there is an annual weekend workshop for business planning;
- Be able to dedicate the time to review board packages and correspondence between board meetings and respond to emails and phone calls on a timely basis;
- Have access to a computer, phone and a reliable internet connection;
- Be ready to commit up to a 3-year term;
- Have education, experience and/or working knowledge in one or more of the following fields:
- Business
- Economic Development
- Finance
- Human Resources
- Mining
- Forestry
- Construction
- Waste Management
- Health and Safety
Employees of WLLP, WLRC or any of its related companies are not eligible to apply.
