Career Opportunity – Contract Supervisor

Due to continued growth in the mining sector, White Lake Limited Partnership is looking for a highly motivated and competent individual to fill the full-time position of Contract Supervisor  within the Barrick – Hemlo Operations under our Barminco Contract located near Marathon, ON.

This position reports to the Mining Services Manager/Mining Liaison and has overall  responsibility for the day to day management of a labour contract with a workforce of between  18-35 (we have two contracts).

Primary Functions and Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage time cards, vacation requests, and all employee time off requests, and to  communicate these requests with the Mining Services Manager and office personnel;
  • Manage all employee related concerns through open communication with both staff and
    management, working together to find, document and report on resolution;
  • Maintain regular commination with contract personnel and if concerns are raised follow up with appropriate company representatives and office contact person;
  • To be available on site, as well as being a positive role model for the Pic Mobert  community;
  • Collaborate with Barrick representatives to achieve progress on the various elements of  the approved participation programs;
  • Ensure all contract personnel work in a manner and with the protective devices,  measures and procedures required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the  regulations and policies of the company;
  • Ensure all training records are delivered to the WLLP Office, and sent into Ministry for
    registration and that all Contract Personnel have a training file maintained in the WLLP  office;
  • Manage human resources with reference to safety, competence, performance,  absenteeism, grievances, overtime, training and development;
  • Working with the Barrick company representative, ensure that quarterly information and  safety meetings are scheduled;
  • Participate in interviews and investigations and report accordingly to the WLLP office;
  • Identify potential individuals from the contract personnel for consideration for training and
    development opportunities. Develop a database of the skills, education and employment
    experience for each of the Contract Personnel;
  • Maintain effective communication with all Contract Personnel and Barrick Hemlo staff.
  • Provide necessary details on expectations, support, feedback and relevant information  associated with the contract;
  • Encouraging and promoting good relations and liaising with the NN community, Contract
    Personnel and Company Representatives;
  • Month End reports;
  • Enforce compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety acts, policies and procedures and ensure that all workers work in the manner and with the protective  sevices, measures and procedures required;
  • Ensure all hazards and Environmental concerns are reported and investigated;
  • Work to provide a safe and healthy work environment;
  • Complete all accident investigation reports, inspections, 5-point audits, job observations,  and tours;
  • Schedule orientations;

Skills, Knowledge and Ability

  • Previous supervisory and leadership experience;
  • Knowledge of prior work experience in an industrial environment, optimally within the  mining sector;
  • Ability to act as a role model to the staff and community;
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work as, and lead in a team-based environment;
  • Physically able to walk long distances on surface and work underground as needed;
  • Driver’s license and vehicle to travel to and from the job site;
  • Time management, and organizational skills;
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.

Preference will be given to Band and community members of the Pic Mobert First Nation.

Career Opportunity: Bulk Propane Delivery Driver

Due to growth and changes in our organization, the White Lake Limited Partnership through a joint venture with Borealis Fuels and Logistics is looking for a highly motivated and competent individual to fill the  position of Bulk Propane Delivery Driver.

The White Lake Limited Partnership (WLLP) is owned by the Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg, and managed by its general partner, White Lake Resources Corp., and has been mandated to develop, implement and  manage business opportunities for the benefit of the Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg and its members. The organization is governed by a board of directors who are appointed by the First Nation Council and are comprised entirely of First Nation members.

White Lake LP delivers numerous business lines including contract labour for area mines, waste management contracting, heavy equipment rentals and operations/trucking, and civil and general contracting.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate the bulk truck for fuel deliveries, which includes:
    • climbing in and out of the truck safely multiple times per day (up to 30 or more);
    • pulling the delivery hose to tanks up to 150 feet away in snow, up and down hills if required;
    • lifting and installing heavy-duty tire chains (approx. 60 lbs) if required in the winter;
    • interface with MOGO in the bulk truck;
    • Support the development of routes in MOGO with the Dispatch Coordinator.
  • Assist in the installation of new Borealis tanks when required and operate the crane truck, which includes: ○ climbing on the crane truck deck to install and remove rigging;
    • safely operate the crane (experience and training may be required);
  • Evacuate the fuel in competitor tanks (customer-owned fuel) and return tanks to competitors’ yards when required;
    • Reports to the shift supervisors and ultimately the Project Manager
    • Perform mandatory Pre and Post vehicle inspections
    • Constantly monitor vehicle condition, load security, and driving conditions
    • Care and maintenance of the interior and exterior of vehicle
    • Be able to take direction and communicate verbally
    • Performs other related duties as required
    • Be a team player and show dedication
    • safe and timely delivery of propane, including loading and unloading propane into customer tanks and ensuring proper handling and storage procedures are followed
    • Effective communication with customers, as drivers may need to coordinate delivery times and address any questions or concerns
    • Create delivery invoices and daily delivery reports

Qualifications:

  • Ealid class DZ license required
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Clean drivers abstract is required
  • Minimum of two years’ experience with commercial driving, and knowledge of propane handling and safety procedures, experience in fuel or propane delivery.

Safety Focus:

Propane delivery involves working with a hazardous material, so a strong emphasis on safety is crucial. Drivers are expected to adhere to strict safety standards and procedures

Job Opportunity – Janitorial Services

White Lake Limited Partnership, as represented by its general partner, White Lake Resources Corp., is looking for highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to fill both full time and on call workers on our  Janitorial Contract at Barrick Hemlo mine site.

Successful candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical as well as provide a clean criminal record check, as per Barrick Hemlo’s current requirements. This is a physically  demanding position, and candidates need to be able to lift over 40lbs as well as be physically able to complete the demands of the job, which include being on your feet for the duration of the shift, stretching, lifting,  bending, sweeping and moping large areas. This contract runs 7 days a week and has a schedule that allows for fair and even weekends off.

The hours are 4pm – 2am. The wage is $25 per hour. Successful candidate(s) must hold a full driver’s license and be able to get themselves to and from work.

Career Opportunity: Manager – Retail & Fuel Operations

White Lake LP has recently completed the development of a new a highway commercial center, including retail fuel  operations and a convenience store, and a bulk fuel and propane depot.

Reporting to the CEO, and working closely with other members of the management team, the Manager will  participate in the detailed planning and construction of the facilities, lead the start-up of the business, thereafter  assuming responsibility and accountability for oversight of the operations of the business.

The principal responsibilities and accountabilities of the position are:

  • Provide general management and oversight of the retail, fuel and bulk energy business operations of WLLP
  • Lead and manage a team of approximately 5+ staff and various contractors/suppliers, at 1-2 locations,  including overseeing employee performance, mentoring employees to improve performance over time:
  • Create and manage employee schedules, ensure all shifts are covered and adjust these schedules to  accommodate employees when possible.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of suppliers for various products and services that will supply the retail and fuel businesses.
  • Develop partnerships with local individuals for locally made items (e.g. food, arts, crafts, etc.) that could  be sold through the business
  • Monitor the performance and profitability of product and service offerings and adjust in order to  maximum sales and profitability.
  • Manage, secure and control inventories in order to minimize losses
  • Develop and manage corporate accounts with various industry and business
  • Manage the business technology, point of sale and management systems
  • Create and manage customer loyalty and rewards programs.
  • Working closely with the CEO, develop an annual business plan and key performance indicators
  • Manage customer complaints and oversee the resolution of these complaints
  • Ensure that all local, provincial and federal requirements for lawful operation of the business are met by all  employees and customers
  • Oversee the reporting of employee hours, manage payroll and payroll taxes
  • Ensure that employee conduct standards are met at all times
  • Ensure that safety protocols and other regulatory requirements applicable to the facilities and operations are  followed at all times
  • Ensure that security protocols, such as maintaining small amounts of cash on premises, are followed at all  times
  • Ensure all operations are carried on in an appropriate, cost-effective way
  • Monitor and improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
  • Working closely with the health and safety manager, ensure safe practices and competencies on the business  premises
  • Participate in regular skills training and professional development in order to optimize performance
  • Prepare an annual workplan and key performance indicators for the approval of the CEO
  • Prepare monthly and other reports as directed by the CEO for presentation to the board and partners
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, partners, suppliers, etc.

Applicants must have have 3-5 years of prior management experience, optimally in a retail/fuel operation. You will  need to be extremely reliable, work well independently and as a member of a team, be an effective negotiator and  manager of contracts and supplier relationships, be capable of managing people, and be committed to the highest standards of customer service. This position will work from our retail operation(s) in Mobert, and as such the Manger must reside locally or within a  reasonable easy daily commuting distance of the business premises – consistent attendance and availability to attend on the business premises on short notice is non-negotiable.
