As you may have noticed, there is a lot of construction activity in Mobert these days!

We wanted to update you on projects that are happening in the community over the next few weeks:

1. CMHC “Rapid Housing”

Construction of 2 new 4-plex units (total of 8 units) will begin this week on the Mobert Road in the new reserve area.

The contractor for this project is Trucor, an Indigenous-owned company based in the Batchewana First Nation (Rankin Reserve).

Trucor and its subcontractor will be starting work on the development of the lots and foundations on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.  The expected move-in dates is early 2023.

Please be careful as there will be people, trucks and equipment moving around and on the road.

There may be traffic controls in place from time to time.

Please be aware and travel safe!

2.  New Subdivision

Our First Nation has commenced the construction of a new 55 lot subdivision off of the new reserve area.

As you have seen, clearing of the lots and the new road right have been completed.

We are currently hauling the grubbed material (earth, stumps, etc) to the Barrick Hemlo mine site where it will be used for mine reclamation projects.

The contracts for construction of the new road, water mains and hydro lines will be awarded within the next week or so and that work will also be commencing.

This work will bring additional people, equipment and trucks into the community and may also cause result in traffic interruptions from time to time.

Please stay aware of people and vehicles and be safe!

3. Skating Rink

Preparations are underway to begin the concrete work on the new skating rink will be completed in the next few weeks and the new rink boards have been ordered and will be installed later in October so that the facility will be available to use this winter!
