As part of our new waste management operations, White Lake LP is expanding our operations team!

Reporting to the Operations Manager of White Lake LP, and ultimately the Director of Operations, the Garbage Truck Operator will be  responsible for the collection/disposal of waste, operation of the garbage truck and operation and maintenance of the waste transfer  station.

This position is based in Mobert, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the Operations Manager
  • Pick up and transportation of waste from residential and commercial buildings including loading waste materials into disposal bins  and truck
  • Operate garbage truck including driving along local pickup routes and to the waste disposal site at White River.
  • Monitor and maintain the waste transfer station
  • Conduct daily inspections of vehicle and equipment and complete routine preventative maintenance and repair work, including  related record keeping
  • Complete all related training and certification
  • Performs other related duties as required

Abilities:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to supervise subordinate staff (labourers)
  • Ability to follow instructions independently
  • Ability to do physical labor; lift at least 40lbs on a repetitive basis
  • Willingness to work in inclement weather
  • Willingness to work in a safe and effective manner
  • Experience with the safe and effective operation of vehicles and equipment a necessity

Qualifications:

  • Valid class G license required with clean driver extract
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Ability to learn and master safe and efficient operation of the garbage truck
  • Ability to successfully complete on-line certification in waste management and other training and qualifications as determined the  Manager of Operations

Preference will be given to Band and Community Members of Netmizaaggmig Nishnaabeg.
